I called my girl Evie as I thought it was pretty – thanks to Peppa Pig I’m terrified kids will oink at her at school

A MUM who called her daughter Evie fears children will start oinking at her in the playground – after it was revealed to be the name of Peppa Pig’s new sibling.

Danielle Price, 27, gave birth to her daughter, Evie, two, on January 20, 2023, and picked the name because it was “pretty and delicate”;;.

Danielle Price is now scared that daughter Evie will be bullied due to sharing a name with the cartoon piglet

But on May 20, it was revealed that from the popular children’s cartoon had announced her

Initially, Danielle was thrilled by the news and thought her little girl would be made up by it too.

But once she started thinking about it, she started to fear other children might oink at Evie in the playground or call her daughter Evie Pig.

Danielle, a sales advisor, from Dromara, County Down, Ireland, said: “Initially, I was like ‘oh my goodness, this is so good’.

“And when I go home, Evie is going to be thrilled when I tell her.

“After I thought about it a bit, I realised children will know this pig as Evie Pig, and what if people started calling my daughter Evie Pig or started oinking at her?

“I know that if a child were called Peppa, people would call them .”;;

Danielle said she picked the name Evie because she loved the name and thought it was “pretty”;;.

She believes her daughter will be thrilled she shares the same name as Peppa Pig’s little sister.

Danielle said: “I picked the name because I thought it was a really lovely name.

“It is pretty and delicate, I just loved the name.

“I told Evie that Peppa’s younger sister is going to be called Evie, and she was over the moon.

“I think she had grasped it, but I am not 100 per cent sure.”;;

Initially, Danielle said she was happy with the news as her daughter is a Peppa Pig superfan, but having given it a bit more thought she’s no longer as pleased.

She said: “At first I was flattered, I’ve picked a good name, and they think it is a good name too.

“As I thought that, I was like ‘no no, this is not good’.

“You’re telling me that I gave birth to my daughter in January 2023, and I thought ‘yep, that’s it, she’s called Evie’.

“That is a pretty name, it is perfect for her.

“You’re telling me that Mummy Pig looked at a pig and thought the same thing? I don’t think so.”;;

Danielle also fears sharing a name with a pig will bring bullying and people oinking at her daughter in the playground.

She said: “What if my child is in nursery or school, or she’s just making friends at soft play and they’re like ‘hey, what’s your name?’.

“And she’s like ‘Evie’ and they’re like ‘oh, like Evie Pig?’ and then she is compared to a pig for the rest of her life?

“And even worse than that, kids are nasty, what if a kid starts oinking at her for fun?”;;
