Former National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sunday Udeh-Okoye, has expressed that the party would not be experiencing its current internal conflicts if he had been appointed as the National Secretary.

Udeh-Okoye made this statement on Tuesday while answering questions during an interview on Politics Today, a program aired on Channels Television.

DAILY POST recalls that a considerable number of PDP governors and lawmakers, including Udeh-Okoye himself, have left the party in recent months.

On Tuesday, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, along with three federal lawmakers from Kaduna State, switched their allegiance to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

DAILY POST also reported that the crisis within the PDP worsened on Tuesday at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where the party’s National Chairman, Umar Iliya Damagum, and the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, openly clashed in court.

In response to these events, Udeh-Okoye stated: “If I had been appointed as the National Secretary, the ongoing situation within the PDP would not be occurring. There would have been a significant change.”

“Just observe what transpired in court. How can the national party chairman and the legal adviser be in conflict? Does that indicate they are managing the party effectively?”

“How can someone who cannot win his polling booth be expected to manage the national party? Samuel Anyanwu ran for governorship in his state but was unsuccessful. That's why he returned to Abuja to compete for the party’s national secretary position.”
