PDP not collapsing, we are contemplating coalition – Senators Caucus

Published on May 20, 2025 at 05:20 PM

The Peoples Democratic Party Senators caucus has denied that the party is collapsing, insisting that the party was waxing strong and putting its house together despite the defection blitz that rocked it in past weeks.

The PDP Senators caucus leader, Senator Abba Moro who doubles as the Minority leader stated at a press conference on Tuesday, after plenary, that the challenge the party was facing was normal in democratic setting, stressing that there was nothing to suggest that the PDP was not going to survive it.

He revealed that there are a line up of activities consciously put together to relive the party preparatory for the 2027 general election.

“Contrary to rumour milling around that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has collapsed, the party has not collapsed..

“Even in the Senate they are former Governors who are in the Senate on the PDP platform. These ones have not defected and they are here with us, so the party has not collapsed.

“PDP still remains strong and there are catalogues of activities lined up to revive the party.

Moro said the party organ has put in place a reconciliation Committee chaired by the former Governor of Kwara State and former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, expressing the belief that his Committee would reconcile aggrieved members back to the party fold.

Responding to questions that former Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, extended an invitation to Mr Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate on the platform of Labour Party for a vice presidential slot in 2027, he said that it was not a bad development as the coalition is being contemplated ahead of 2027.
