The National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Samuel Anyanwu, has cautioned the party’s Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, against making statements that could mislead the public and deepen divisions within the party.

Ologunagba allegedly stated that Anyanwu’s role as National Secretary is confined to administrative responsibilities, which include managing daily operations, overseeing correspondence, and ensuring that directives are implemented.

The spokesman’s remarks were in response to a perceived misunderstanding regarding roles within the party.

He emphasized that the National Secretary does not have the authority to call meetings or issue press releases without proper authorization.

In reply, Anyanwu, through his media aide, Ikenna Onuoha, refuted Ologunagba’s assertions, labeling them as “absurd and uninformed” while underscoring the National Secretary’s essential role in the party's functioning.

Onuoha stated that Ologunagba’s comments reflect a lack of comprehension of the party’s constitution concerning the responsibilities and functions of the National Secretary.

“If this statement indeed came from a supposed party spokesperson, it demonstrates that he lacks the necessary knowledge of the provisions of the party constitution regarding the duties, functions, and programs of the office of the National Secretary,” he remarked.

“Hon. Debo Ologunagba, who should be representing the party, failed to acknowledge the responsibilities of Senator Samuel Anyanwu, National Secretary of PDP, as outlined in section 36 (1) of the PDP Constitution 2017 as amended, simply because he was intent on creating discord,” he added.

Onuoha contended that Senator Anyanwu’s role is significantly more important than what Ologunagba indicated, asserting that his actions are guided by the party’s constitution. He urged Ologunagba to concentrate on constructive strategies to fortify the party instead of engaging in divisive rhetoric.
