The Chairman of the Abia State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, Amah Abraham, has stated that a ruling from the Court of Appeal can overturn the Federal High Court's decision regarding the party's convention.
Abraham made this remark on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television, which was monitored by DAILY POST.
It is important to note that the Federal High Court in Abuja, overseen by Justice James Omotosho, has prohibited the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from acknowledging the results of the upcoming 2025 National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to DAILY POST, a High Court in Oyo State recently directed the PDP and the National Chairman of the party, Umar Damagum, to schedule a convention for November 15 in Ibadan.
In response, Abraham remarked, “It is reasonable to assert that the judgment of Justice Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja takes precedence over that of the State High Court in Ibadan. Many PDP supporters, myself included, have adhered to the Federal High Court's ruling that halts the convention.
“I, along with others who value the rule of law and justice, believe that due process must be followed. We will not engage in any congress that occurs without first conducting congresses in those states where they have not yet been held.”
