Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, on Friday, accompanied several leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Federal High Court in Abuja, in anticipation of the ruling regarding the party's upcoming national convention.

According to DAILY POST, three party members—Austin Nwachukwu, the Imo PDP chairman; Amah Nnanna, the Abia PDP chairman; and Turnah George, the South-South PDP Secretary—have filed a lawsuit aiming to prevent the convention where new national officers are slated to be elected.

It is important to note that in August, the PDP Governors warned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and others against jeopardizing the national convention scheduled to take place in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15, 2025.

On Monday, the party announced the postponement of the screening for aspirants for its 2025 national convention, citing what they referred to as “unforeseen” circumstances.

In a statement issued by the chairman of the convention committee and governor of Adamawa State, Umaru Fintiri, he said, “The National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC) of our esteemed party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has temporarily halted the screening of aspirants for the 2025 Elective National Convention, which was initially set for Tuesday, October 28, 2025, due to unforeseen issues.

“A new date will be communicated once established. The NCOC regrets any inconvenience caused by this postponement.”
