A HOMEOWNER has been left furious after claiming their neighbour put up their own sign in an apparent attempt to claim a public parking space as their own.
They claimed is already “a bloody nightmare,” with drivers forced to leave their several streets away if they get home after 7pm.

The new sign – put up outside the neighbour’s house – has sparked a reaction online, after the homeowner branded it “selfish” and “entitled.”
The sign showed a barred car, with the words “If you do not live here, please do not park here.”
The street has no designated spaces, except for disabled and electric vehicle bays, meaning anyone with a car has an equal right to park there.
Taking to Reddit , the homeowner said: “Neighbour is trying to create their own private parking space. Can I report this sign?
“Before I go over there at night write rude words on it, is it legal to put up a sign like this for a public parking space?”
People were quick to chime in on the dilemma, with some joking about tearing it down, while others are urging the poster to report it to the council.
One said: “Perfectly legal for him to put that on his wall. Perfectly legal for everyone to ignore it. Perfectly not legal to deface it.”
Another added: “One of the least offensive signs I’ve seen. Ignore it and keep parking wherever you can legally.”
And a third commented: “You honestly think the are going to care/do anything?”
According to the Sign Shed: “If you live on a public road, you cannot legally put up a no parking sign without the permission of the local authority.
“The local authority may grant permission if you can demonstrate that there is a good reason for restricting parking, such as safety concerns or to allow access for emergency vehicles.
“Even if you have permission from the local authority, you may still be subject to other parking restrictions.
“For example, there may be a time limit on how long you can park in a particular area.”
