The Corps Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Isaac Omoyele, narrowly avoided assassination after being attacked by armed assailants.

The event, as reported by DAILY POST, took place late on Monday at approximately 10:05 p.m. along Ikirun Road in Osogbo.

Sources indicate that the Osun Amotekun leader was ambushed by heavily armed individuals who opened fire on his private vehicle shortly after he departed from the Amotekun Corps Headquarters heading home.

A statement from the spokesperson of the security agency, Yusuf Idowu Abass, revealed that the incident has been reported to the Nigerian Police at the Ota-Efun Division in Osogbo.

Additionally, Omoyele has been admitted to an undisclosed hospital where he is receiving treatment for injuries sustained from gunfire.

The statement noted, “The Commander sustained gunshot injuries and is currently being treated at an undisclosed medical facility. His condition is reported to be stable, and he is under protective supervision.

“The incident has been officially reported to the Ota-Efun Police Division, and investigations are currently in progress. However, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and the motive remains unknown.”
