Human rights activist, Comrade Ighotegwolor Bezi, on Tuesday urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Federal Government to promptly instruct the arrest of Islamic cleric Sheik Gumi for his alleged “tacit support” of terrorists operating within the country.
He also praised the joint operation against terrorist strongholds in Nigeria’s North-West region conducted by the US Army and the Nigerian military.
“Now that both nations have collaborated, I am fully supportive,” Bezi stated.
Bezi made this appeal in a statement sent to our correspondent in Warri, Delta State.
He remarked, “He should be made to face consequences for his tacit support of evil in our land. He should endure a slow demise.”
According to him, “If not for the laws, Gumi should be arrested, stripped of his dignity, and subjected to a gruesome fate. But within the confines of the law, he should be apprehended and made to face the full extent of justice.”
Bezi also emphasized, “Many Nigerians are skeptical about whether the strike actually occurred, simply because there were no visible bodies. I believe a strike did happen and that there will be more. I strongly advocate for a thorough strike on the so-called Sambisa Forest. Every part of that forest should be bombarded without mercy. I believe anyone killed in the process is a terrorist, as reports indicate that only terrorists occupy that forest.”
He further urged President Tinubu to implement measures aimed at uplifting the morale of the Nigerian military and paramilitary personnel, who risk their lives daily to maintain peace in the nation.
