A VINTED seller has shared the three modifications she implemented to increase her earnings from £50 to £600 a month.

Alex confessed that she was “overwhelmed with unsold listings” for six months.

Previously, she was stuck with minimal profits selling the “same items that others sold for triple the price.”

However, she then “uncovered what successful sellers were keeping secret”—specifically, that photos of the items provided them with “instant credibility.”

Describing it as the “method that changed everything” in a TikTok post, Alex stated: “Same wardrobe, different photos.”

“Now I’m making £600 a month!”

She shared an example of how a worn photo could significantly impact the success of an item, showing a dress that had been listed for £8 for three weeks.

During that time, she received only 12 views and no inquiries.

“I thought my items were the problem,” she confessed.

However, after changing it to a photo of the dress being worn and listing it for £32, she sold it in just four hours.

“The item was never the issue,” she emphasized.

Alex, also known as Vinty Look, concluded her post with three lessons she learned from her experience: “never post flat photos again, generate worn photos in 60 seconds, and price 2 to 3 times higher to sell faster.”

“This changed everything, and I wish someone had informed me sooner…” she captioned her TikTok.

“I need all mine gone!” one viewer commented on the TikTok.

However, another person claimed they had “found the opposite.”

“I have only ever sold clothes without a worn picture,” they added.

Another user remarked: “Some of them don’t fit anymore.”

Do you need to pay tax on items sold on Vinted?

QUICK facts on tax from the team at Vinted...

  • The only instance in which an item might be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and there is profit (if it sells for more than you originally paid). Even then, you can utilize your capital gains tax-free allowance of £3,000 to offset it.
  • Typically, only business sellers who trade for profit (buying goods with the intent to sell them for more than their purchase price) may need to pay tax. Business sellers trading for profit can use a tax-free allowance of £1,000, which has been in effect since 2017.
