The Area Comptroller, Comptroller Oladapo Afeni, revealed this during a press conference at the command’s headquarters in Idiroko on Wednesday. He stated that the confiscated food items have a duty-paid value of ₦291 million, while the trucks used for transportation are valued at ₦222 million.

He noted that the seizures occurred along the Lusada/Ado-Odo axis, Abule Kazeem/Igbo-Ora Road, Abeokuta axis, Imeko axis, Idiroko/Owode axis, Ipokia, and several other locations.

The seized items consist of 4,998 cartons of Doga brand spaghetti (10kg each), 419 cartons of Oba brand spaghetti (10kg each), which were illegally imported from Turkey, and 2,200 kegs of vegetable oil (25 liters each) of Indonesian origin.

Other items confiscated include 11 wraps of crystal meth (ice) weighing 12kg, 16 pieces of heroin weighing 16kg, and cannabis sativa in various forms, totaling 3,373 wraps and weighing 1,502kg.

Afeni added that a total of 6,750 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 4,738 bags of foreign parboiled rice (50kg each), two foreign-used vehicles, and 309 bundles of used pneumatic tires were also intercepted.

He stated, “On December 12, 2025, our dedicated officers successfully intercepted an Iveco truck with registration number RMY-354-XA, loaded with four thousand, nine hundred and ninety-eight (4,998) cartons of Doga brand spaghetti (10kg each) and four hundred and nineteen (419) cartons of Oba brand spaghetti (10kg each), illegally imported from Turkey.

“Additionally, on December 13, 2025, our operatives intercepted a DAF truck with registration number JHN-590-XA, carrying two thousand, two hundred (2,200) kegs of vegetable oil (25 liters each) of Indonesian origin.”

The Comptroller mentioned that the trucks and their contents would be forfeited to the Federal Government in accordance with existing laws and regulations.

Afeni pointed out that the cannabis sativa seizures were accomplished through six intelligence-driven operations conducted between Thursday, December 4, 2025, and Monday, December 15, 2025, across various locations.

He expressed concern regarding the seizures of crystal meth and cannabis sativa, describing the situation as alarming due to their significant impact on youth, public health, and national security.

“While we are primarily an enforcement agency, we have also focused on revenue generation, having generated ₦27,291,861.00 as of Tuesday, December 16, 2025. This accomplishment is attributed to the diligence of our officers and the cooperation of compliant traders,” he added.

While commending the officers of the command for their unwavering efforts despite numerous challenges, the Comptroller also acknowledged the collaborative support from sister agencies, traditional institutions, local informants, community leaders, and youth.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining the momentum and cautioned smugglers and their accomplices to stay away from the state, emphasizing that the command remains vigilant, alert, and prepared to address any threats to the nation’s economic and security interests.

Meanwhile, the Customs chief handed over the seized narcotics to the Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Idiroko Special Command, Ekundayo William, for further necessary action.
