The Osun State Police Command has dispatched officers from the Police Mobile Force (MOPOL) and other tactical units to conduct extensive patrols, intelligence-driven operations, and search local bush areas to enhance security throughout the borders of Osun State.
This deployment aims to eliminate criminal elements and dismantle bandit hideouts within border communities, following the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
As stated by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, and relayed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, this action comes in response to recent kidnappings and bandit attacks in Ora-Igbomina town, located in the Ifedayo Local Government Area of the state.
Earlier reports from DAILY POST indicated that there was widespread panic in Ora town on Monday evening when bandits kidnapped Emmanuel Owolabi.
A community leader, known as Dennis, was also tragically killed by the bandits as they fled into the bush.
The statement mentions: “The Osun State Police Command, in partnership with the State Government led by His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, in light of the recent kidnapping and bandit attack in Ora-Igbomina, and in accordance with the directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode A. Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, has deployed officers from the Police Mobile Force (MOPOL) and other tactical units for rigorous patrols, intelligence-led operations, and bush clearing to enhance security throughout Osun State, eradicate criminal elements, and dismantle bandit hideouts within our borders.
“This deployment is designed to bolster security across the state and avert further criminal activities.”
The Osun Police Chief assured residents of sufficient security measures during the holiday season and New Year celebrations.
He also encouraged community members to assist security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could support ongoing operations across the state.
“Criminals are cautioned to refrain from all forms of unlawful activity, as security agencies are fully equipped to respond decisively to anyone threatening public peace and safety,” the statement concluded.
