Nasarawa United Technical Adviser, Mbwas Mangut, has commended his players for playing to instruction in the 1-0 win over Ikorodu City.
Bright Amadi’s 83rd minutes free-kick earned Nasarawa United the maximum points in Lafia on Sunday.
Mangut admitted that his team showed Ikorodu City’s respect following their impressive run in the league.
“Before now, we were very much aware of how difficult this game would be, knowing that Ikorodu City are also a team in contention for the league title,” Mangut told the club’s media.
“We gave them a lot of respect in the first-half. We sat back a lot, no chance created, so, we decided to effect some changes in the second half, and you saw that those changes made the difference for us.”
Nasarawa United moved to third position on the league table with 47 points from 29 matches.
They will square up with defending champions Remo Stars in their next league game in Ikenne.
