Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that there will be no reversal of the decision to restore power to the people of Rivers in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Wike made this announcement during a “Thank You Visit” to the Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State on Wednesday.
The minister revealed that part of this decision involves supporting Tinubu's reelection for a second term, aiming to rectify past leadership errors at the state level.
He emphasized that no amount of money would sway their resolve, asserting, “We have accomplished this before and we will do it again.”
“We are prepared; we have made our decision and we will not waver. I urge you to remain strong. No one will intimidate us,” he added.
Wike explained that those entrusted with power in Rivers State have been misled by wealth and influence, noting that greed and ingratitude lead to downfall.
He expressed his gratitude to the Eleme community for their steadfast support of Tinubu, stating, “I want to assure you that I do not take your support for granted.”
“Despite all the challenges, Tinubu chose me, a South South individual, to serve as the Minister of FCT. This has never occurred before,” he remarked.
“Furthermore, the ongoing developments in this area have never taken place until Tinubu came into power.”
Earlier, Chief Aforji Igwe, who represents Eleme in the Rivers State Assembly, referred to Wike as a “fair, just, and honorable man.”
Igwe pledged the support of the Eleme people to the minister for his exceptional assistance to the community.
Additionally, the Chairman of Eleme Council, Chief Obarilormate Ollor, praised Wike for all the infrastructural improvements made during his tenure as governor of Rivers.
Ollor assured Wike that the community stands with him and is ready to follow his guidance.
He mentioned that the people are already aware of his endorsement for Tinubu's reelection and are awaiting directives regarding the gubernatorial election in 2027.
