The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has condemned the attack on its members in Ruwan Bago ward in Rogo Local Government Area of the state.

According to the party, the incident happened during an event where a well-known politician was leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the NNPP.

The NNPP alleged that the attack was carried out by thugs linked to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement released by the party’s publicity secretary, Ibrahim Karaye, the NNPP described the incident as unacceptable and called for an investigation.

“The party strongly condemns the attack on our members,” Karaye said. “We urge security agencies to carry out a full investigation and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”

He said 11 NNPP members were injured during the attack. Two vehicles were also damaged, including one belonging to the politician who defected to the party. Several mobile phones were reportedly stolen during the incident.

Karaye called on security agencies to take steps to stop similar incidents in the future.

He also urged the APC and its leaders to avoid actions that could increase political tension.

“Opposition is an important part of democracy and should not be suppressed through violence or attacks on political opponents,” he said.
