NNL clarifies decision to play Mighty Jets vs Barau FC behind closed doors

The Nigeria National League, NNL, has clarified the decision to play the Matchday 12 fixture between Mighty Jets and Barau FC behind closed doors.

The NNL Chief Operating Officer, Danlami Alanana, explained that the measure was taken following a formal request from the host team, Mighty Jets.

Alanana emphasized that the decision was not imposed by the league body but was rather a response to the club’s expressed concerns, adding that stakeholders should verify facts properly before making public statements.

“Mighty Jets wrote a letter to us requesting that they play their home match behind closed doors, citing security concerns as the basis for their request. We had no option but to oblige their request,”;; the COO stated.

DAILY POST reports that the league body has tasked the Plateau State Football Association, chaired by Honourable Suleiman Kwande, with ensuring comprehensive security arrangements are in place for the fixture.

The match will take place at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday at 3 p.m.
