Cross River community cries out over lack of access road, amenities

Published on May 17, 2025 at 06:39 PM

The people of Igede community in Yala Local Government Area, Cross River State, have lamented the lack of access roads for their farm yields.

They disclosed that as the rains set in, their inner roads become even more deplorable.

However, they have expressed happiness over visible efforts towards the rehabilitation of Ukulele Road.

Speaking on behalf of the community, youth leader and former councilor Patrick Agogo called on both state and federal governments to fix Igede U Road, Anyugbeto Operiku to Wanokom, and Operiku to Wanudu Wanikade.

He said the road will serve as a major link connecting bigger towns and as an evacuation corridor for their farm produce.

He stated, “Construction of that road project will alleviate the suffering of our people during the rainy seasons, as the rains usually cut off the road, stopping accessibility to other parts of the local government area.”;;

The community leader also called for the installation of electricity, pipe-borne water, and the fixing of several other basic amenities that will provide succour to the people.

“We call on the state and federal governments to come to our aid in the area of infrastructural development.”;;

Agogo alleged that Igede community has been marginalized for a long time.

The community is urging the governments to provide essential infrastructure to alleviate their suffering and improve their living conditions.
