PART of an abandoned shopping centre is set to become a huge new attraction for families.
A former Debenhams store at a shopping centre in Basildon, , will become a major new attraction called FunParx this winter.



The family attraction will be on the top floor at Eastgate Shopping Centre, with a large , soft play area, ninja-style obstacle course, slides and darts.
The project is set to cost £600,000 and is part of a bigger plan from FunParx to open seven sites across the UK by the end of the year.
Ticket prices won’t be expensive either, costing between £9.50 and £10 per person, per session.
According to the Southend Echo, a spokesperson from the shopping centre said: “We’re so excited to be bringing FunParx to Eastgate.
“It’s a fantastic addition for the community and will create a new destination within the town centre.”
FunParx has another four parks lined up, with one in Dundee, , already open and an site will open on October 14.
The Basildon site, alongside sites inand Warrington, do not have an opening date yet.
FunParx sites are themed around an anime universe known as the ‘Portal Worlds’, according to the attraction’s website.
Each portal (or attraction) is then different, and they may vary slightly between venues as well.
FunParx website states: “But beware, the evil High-Lord has cast his spawn monsters throughout the portal worlds!
“The less fun you have the more they evolve into bigger, meaner monsters!
“So there’s only one thing for it! Join our four noble heroes, The FunParx Four, and have as much fun as possible!”
At the site, there is also a ninja-style obstacle area with features including punch bags and monkey bars.
Then there is also Slide City, which features four slides including one where riders sit in a ring.
At Monster Airpark visitors can race alongside each other through an with bouncy slides.



For younger kids, there is Critter Castle Softplay, which features a castle to explore and a ball pit.
And perfect for parent-child bonding, there is a where visitors can play on the different machines for free.
The attraction also has a cafe serving light bites like hot dogs, and a variety of hot and cold drinks.
Admission for a one-hour session costs £8.50 per person over the age of five, or £5 for a child under five-years-old and supporting adults cost £2.50.
Visitors can also opt for a 90-minute session or a two-hour session for an additional fee.
