Airlines across the country have been forced to this morning as crews battle a huge backlog following yesterday’s meltdown.

Over 1,000 flights were axed yesterday after the National Air Traffic Services (NATS) suffered an issue with its “flights processing system”.

Later yesterday evening, the technical issue preventing departures was fixed, but hundreds of flights have already been cancelled this morning.

Most impacted by these issues is Airport, which is continuing to face “major disruptions”, according to FlightRadar24.

A number of departures out of Heathrow have been cancelled this morning and into this afternoon, with destinations including Athens, Toronto and Glasgow.

Heathrow Airport has said on its website: “Passengers are advised to check the latest status of their flight directly with their airline and to only travel to Heathrow if their flight is confirmed as operating today.”
