Political parties and candidates participating in the local government elections scheduled for November 1 in Niger State have signed a peace accord aimed at ensuring a credible and violence-free electoral process.
The peace accord, which was facilitated by the Niger State Police Command under Commissioner Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, was signed during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Police Officers’ Mess in Minna.
Attendees included representatives from the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC), the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), government officials, security agencies, and various political stakeholders.
Commissioner Elleman stressed that the police would act with professionalism, impartiality, and fairness to ensure a secure environment before, during, and after the elections.
He also called on the youth to refrain from engaging in violence and to foster peace.
