THRILL seekers will be able to experience a new attraction next year in the UK’s biggest national park.
The in the east Highlands of could soon be getting a new toboggan ride.

Over the next few weeks, designers are due to start working on plans for the toboggan ride at Cairngorm Mountain ski resort – which is set to be the longest of its kind in the UK at 1.2km.
Currently, the longest toboggan ride in the UK is located at Chatham Snowsports Centre in and 750metres.
The new ride is also due to be the highest of its kind, with the highest point being at 715metres above sea level.
And two people will be able to ride the toboggan at the same time.
The major new attraction aims “to complement the summer activities at Cairngorm Mountain (Scotland) Limited (CMSL),” according to the resort.
Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) were told this week that the designers would work to determine the total length of the ride as well as accessibility provisions.
According to the BBC, MSPs were also told that the new attraction would meet demand from current visitors – especially those “just jumping on and having a go”.
The mountain toboggan experience is set to open in summer 2026 and visitors will be able to use the funicular to get to the summit of the mountain – which they are currently not allowed to do.
Cairngorm Mountain originally revealed the plans for the ride back in April, estimating it to cost £1.2million.

The ride will then be open from spring to autumn and the track will be made of lightweight aluminum to easily remove and install in under two weeks at the start and the end of the season.
Tim Hurst, Interim CEO of CMSL, said: “Summer toboggans are a well-established concept in the mountains of Austria, Switzerland and Germany and in North America, but this is a first for the Scottish Highlands.
“We’re incredibly proud to be working on this exciting product, introducing something new to the area with minimal impact on the terrain.
“By building on the success of our fantastic summer activities, we believe our toboggan ride will attract even more families, encourage them to stay in the local area for longer, providing yet another reason for visitors to come to Cairngorm Mountain out of theseason and to enjoy the natural mountain environment throughout the year.”
The toboggan ride will add to Cairngorm Mountain ski resort’s summer activities, such as and mountain biking.
The resort has a couple year-round activities too, including Scotland’s only mountain railway, The Cairngorm Funicular, which is also the highest in the United Kingdom.

The Mountain Railway Experience stretches over 2km, with regular services taking visitors to the Ptarmigan Top Station in around five to eight minutes.
On the way up, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the Grampian Mountains, as well as the ancient Caledonian pine forests of Rothiemurchus Estate and Loch Morlich.
There is also the Mountain Garden that is open year-round, which is home to plants that thrive in the harsh environment, as well as a number of bird species.
In the garden, visitors will find the highest phone box in the UK as well, which you can even call to surprise those visiting the garden.
In the winter season, visitors can then head on a number from green all the way up to black.
If you fancy getting outdoors, then these are the – featuring mini festivals, tobogganing and even roller coasters.
Plus, the runs for 750 metres and has amazing views.
