The confirmed that the additional funding was for “eligible parents” only, who would receive a payment to go towards school trips, , book fairs and fairs.

However, Sophie was left disappointed that she, a mother with an , would not be receiving the payment.

Clearly frustrated, the mum crossed her arms and explained: “You are only an eligible parent if you’re in receipt of any , so , , a few others were on there, there was a good list.”

She then continued: “Please can you explain to me how that’s fair for ? I pay an additional £450 per month on – my daughter is up from the crack of dawn so I’m able to get her to childcare so I’m able to work an 8 till 5.”

Not only does Sophie work a full-time job, but she confirmed that her leaves the at 4:30am every single morning and doesn’t normally get home until 6pm.

Following this, Sophie then questioned how it’s “fair” that she and her partner exhaust themselves “every single day,” and don’t receive any extra support.

Assuming that those receiving benefits do not work, she added: “For people whose excuse not to work is because they’ve got a child in ? Rubbish excuse.

“If you’re a or you’ve got a genuine reason not to work, fair enough – lovely, take the help, run and jump with it – but just because your excuse is you claim , because you can’t work because your child’s in school – no, it’s not a good enough answer for me.”

Not afraid to share her thoughts, Sophie was left angry with the “rough” situation.

She concluded: “I know that’s a really unpopular , it just didn’t sit right with me that we bust our a***s every single day, just to pay an extra £450 a month so I’m able to work?”

Huge divide

But users were hugely divided by Sophie’s thoughts – while many couldn’t agree more, not everyone was on the same page.

A second raged: “It’s outrageous honestly, how there isn’t much for working parents and everything for ?!”

Whilst another mother penned: “Totally agree. I am in the same boat – work full time, single parent, and get no help because I work. more should be given to us working parents (not for us, for our kids).”

But at the same time, others were not impressed with Sophie’s “unpopular opinion.”
