New bride allegedly poisons, stabs groom to death in Kano

Published on May 06, 2025 at 12:15 PM

A newly married bride, identified as Saudat, has been arrested by security operatives after she allegedly poisoned and stabbed her husband, Salisu, to death in Farawa community, located in Kano State.

The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday night, just two days after their wedding ceremony, which took place on Sunday.

According to local reports, the marriage was arranged between relatives and was said to have been without mutual affection.

Sources allege that there had been no love between the couple prior to the marriage, and that the groom was persuaded to proceed with the union despite initial hesitation.

Community members said the situation quickly escalated when youths attempted to take the law into their own hands, but police intervened in time to arrest the suspect.

Authorities are yet to officially comment on the incident.
