Iran-US: Kremlin opens up on Putin’s discussions with Iranian leader

The Kremlin on Tuesday said Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the progress of talks between Iran and the United States with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

According to Putin, Russia is ready to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the US to reach a fair agreement.

The Kremlin reiterated that they also discussed bilateral relations, including the development of major energy projects.

There has been a trade of words between the United States and the Islamic Republic over a nuclear deal.

The United States had on entities it accused of being involved in the illicit trade of Iranian petroleum and petrochemicals ahead of a new round of US-Iran negotiations.

Iran had said that continued US sanctions on its trade partners , following President Donald Trump’s threat to penalise countries or individuals dealing in Iranian oil.

It further noted that such sanctions have fostered deep suspicion and mistrust regarding the seriousness of America’s commitment to diplomacy.
