The French club Marseille has provided a reassuring update following the collapse of midfielder Bilal Nadir during the latter stages of a match.
On Wednesday night, Marseille was leading Angers 2-1 in the 86th minute when the alarming incident occurred while the ball was out of play.

The 21-year-old Moroccan youth international was quickly placed in a recovery position by his teammates and opponents before being evacuated on a stretcher by medical personnel.
Marseille's statement read: “The player did not lose consciousness during the incident.
“From the moment he was attended to by the club’s medical staff and the emergency services on site, all of his vital signs were found to be normal.
“As a precaution, Bilal Nadir was taken to the hospital for a comprehensive medical evaluation.
“His health condition is stable, and he is currently under observation to continue this evaluation.
“The club extends its gratitude to the medical teams for their prompt response, as well as to the many supporters for their messages of encouragement.
“Further updates will be provided based on the evolution of the situation.”
Nadir is a product of Nice’s youth academy and signed his first professional contract with Marseille in July 2021.
He made his senior debut in a 4-0 defeat to PSG in September 2023, and since then, he has made 34 appearances for the club, scoring one goal.
Marseille ultimately conceded a late equalizer in the sixth minute of stoppage time, resulting in a 2-2 draw, but the outcome was not their primary concern.

The manager commented in the post-match conference: “He lost consciousness and went to the hospital for tests and evaluations. We’re all concerned, but we hope it’s nothing serious.”
