The jaw-dropping collection was estimated to be worth around £13million and kept in private garages in Monaco and .

The bombshell news came after the 40-year-old Brit was asked if he would like to buy Ferrari’s latest flagship supercar – the F80 – during his media session ahead of this weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Hamilton said: “I don’t have any anymore. I got rid of all my cars. I’m more into art nowadays.”

still has a special place in his heart for his favourite – the legendary F40.

He added: “If I was going to get a car, it would be the F40. But that’s a nice piece of art.”

Hamilton was pictured posing next to an F40 outside of Enzo Ferrari’s house during his first visit to Ferrari’s Maranello HQ at the end of January.

He is often seen riding motorcycles now at race weekends, including at Monaco and the Italian Grand Prix this season.

The former Mercedes star rode a Ducati Panigale V4 S superbike, dressed in the Italian tricolore livery.

He said: “One of the things I really want to do is to design a Ferrari. I want to do an F44,

“Baseline of an F40, with the actual stick shift. That’s what I’m gonna work on for the next few years.”

Hamilton arrives in Baku feeling “optimistic” he can end his streak without a podium finish before the end of his first season with Ferrari.

He added: “A win is a bit far-fetched considering I’ve been sixth, seventh and eighth for most of the season,

“I would love to get a podium for the team at some stage, Charles has had five of them.

“I feel optimistic coming into the weekend. I feel like I’ve found a couple of things and now I need to work on extracting them. So I really hope that this weekend can be the start of that.”

It trimmed Norris’ gap to Piastri in the driver’s standings to 31 points and the Brit did not mince his words when he was asked about the negativity.

When asked if the reaction surprised him, Norris replied: “Not in the world that we live in nowadays, because that’s all people want to do, you know, is be negative and talk badly about others.

“It also doesn’t affect us as a team. It’s what you expect nowadays, and I think in the world that we live in, it’s more negativity than ever positivity.

“We continue to do things our way, whether people agree with it or not. It’s not our problem, and we don’t really care about that, so we’re happy. We focus on ourselves.”
