The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the conviction of a former legislative aide and banker, Mr. Goni Yilkan, over a ₦120.5 million employment scam.

Yilkan was on Monday, September 22, 2025, sentenced to eight years imprisonment by Justice F. E. Messiri of the Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Jabi, Abuja.

The EFCC, in a post via its official Instagram account, said the conviction followed Yilkan’s arraignment on charges of obtaining money by false pretence, contrary to the provisions of the law.

According to the anti-graft agency, Yilkan had fraudulently obtained various sums from unsuspecting victims under the guise of securing employment opportunities.

The court, after reviewing the evidence, found him guilty and handed down the sentence.

It will be recalled that in August 2023, the EFCC declared Yilkan wanted after he was accused of obtaining money under false pretence through an employment scam
