Barcelona youngster, Lamine Yamal, has said he is not Lionel Messi.

The Spain international is widely being compared with Messi who happens to be his idol.

The 17-year-old has many similarities to the Argentine superstar, especially in terms of their position and journey to professional football.

But Yamal told reporters at an Adidas event in Shanghai, China, that he is a unique on his own.

As quoted by Barca Universal, he said he always attempts to do things his own way and not trying to be anyone else.

“We definitely have a lot in common, and that’s okay. I just want to carve my own path,”; he said.

“But more importantly, I want to play football my way, to write my own story, and to make people remember the name Lamine Yamal.”;

At 17 year-old, Yamal is one of the football stars being considered for the 2025 Ballon d’Or award.
