The Lagos State Government has revealed that the highly anticipated Opebi-Mende Link Bridge will be finished and inaugurated before the conclusion of 2025.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, shared this information during an interactive session with members of the Lagos State Correspondents’ Chapel at Alausa, Ikeja.
He emphasized that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, are fully dedicated to ensuring the prompt completion of all major projects throughout the state, highlighting that the administration has a strict zero-tolerance policy for neglected initiatives.
“All the remarkable projects we have undertaken will be completed shortly. The Opebi-Mende Link Bridge will be inaugurated before the end of this year. What remains now are just the final touches,” Omotoso stated.
He mentioned that several other significant projects are also approaching completion, including the new Massey Children’s Hospital, the Ojo General Hospital, and the state’s network of food hubs designed to enhance food security.
“The new Massey Hospital is nearly finished and will be fully equipped and inaugurated next year. Our food hubs are among the largest in sub-Saharan Africa, with each facility capable of storing enough food to sustain five million people for three months,” he said.
The commissioner also provided updates on the state’s transport infrastructure, revealing that construction on the second phases of both the Blue and Red Line Rail projects is progressing on schedule and will be completed before the end of the Sanwo-Olu administration.
He added that preparatory work has commenced on the Green Line Rail project, with essential planning and stakeholder meetings already in progress to ensure visible advancements before the administration’s tenure concludes.
Omotoso also outlined ongoing housing and education projects nearing completion, including the Sunny Ajose Housing Estate, the Odo-Onosa Housing Scheme in Badagry, and the Sangotedo Housing Project.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure, he disclosed that a large new school is being developed in Ajegunle, described as the largest of its kind in West Africa.
“It’s an extraordinary project that will redefine educational facilities in that area of Lagos,” he said. “No project will be left unfinished, whether in housing, health, infrastructure, or education. Abandonment is not part of this administration’s ethos.”
