Katie has now explained how Lee’s dad set up their first call, which she claimed came from a prison call box in the notorious Al Awir jail.

The 48-year-old then told how her long awaited conversation with Lee went.

She said: “I told him how worried I had been and told him I loved him. It was very rushed, but he said the authorities out there thought he was a spy.

“I don’t know much more than that right now.”

It is understood Lee was arrested on Wednesday 14th May after previously hiding out and keeping a deliberately low profile.

Lee must now pay a four-figure fine, and is expected to be released on Monday.

He told her he was being taken to a “black site” — a term for a clandestine, state-run detention facility.

A source said: “Lee said he had many jobs, one being an international arms dealer. He seemed really proud of it.
