A former Senior Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Domestic Matters and Social Events, Dr. Waripamo-owei Dudafa, has extended his congratulations to Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, on his switch to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to DAILY POST, Diri has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the APC.
Dudafa, who has previously served as a commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Community Development, as well as a former member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly representing Kolokuma/Opokuma Constituency 2, expressed his thoughts on Diri’s defection in a statement issued on Tuesday.
He characterized the governor’s choice as “a prudent and well-thought-out decision that aligns Bayelsa State with the national agenda for accelerated growth and enhanced political participation.”
Dudafa further stated that Diri’s move exemplifies his pragmatic leadership style, which has consistently been guided by consultation, inclusivity, and the pursuit of the common good.
“Your decision to collaborate with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in conjunction with your Assured Prosperity vision, will undoubtedly facilitate the necessary transformation and development for the residents of Bayelsa State and the Niger Delta region as a whole,” the former presidential aide remarked.
Reflecting on the governor’s performance, he noted that Diri’s administration has been marked by purposeful governance and tangible achievements.
“Since taking office, your guiding principle has been both clear and steadfast — to engage widely, act in the public interest, and deliver measurable developmental outcomes. This same principle has influenced your recent political alignment, and it will continue to guide your Assured Prosperity Administration,” he added.
Dudafa reiterated his unwavering loyalty and support for the governor, assuring that he and his associates will continue to align with Diri’s administration in the collective effort to maintain peace, unity, and progress in the state.
“We will remain steadfast in our support of your leadership and work to ensure that you conclude your term successfully. Your political acumen and focus on development have positioned Bayelsa for a promising future,” he concluded.
He praised Diri for his courage and vision, stressing that aligning Bayelsa with the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is a significant step toward achieving inclusive governance and enhancing federal engagement in Bayelsa State.
