JANE McDonald has taken a savage swipe at her ex husband, saying she was never in love with him and that him leaving her was the “best thing”.
She and Henrik Brixen tied the knot back in 1998 but the marriage only lasted five years and they got divorced in 2003.

Now the singer has reflected on her marriage to the Danish ship plumbing engineer and has insisted that his decision to end it was “the best thing he ever did.”
Speaking to Jessie and Lennie Ware on the Table Manners podcast, she expressed: “It’s really strange this, because I should have had the best time of my life.
“I just got to Vegas, but I knew my marriage was on the brink.”
When asked if she was in love with him, the former panellist responded: “Oh no, I really wasn’t, everybody could see it and was going, that’s not gonna last.
“I was the only one who didn’t see it. But he was a great guy, and he did his best, you know.”
Shortly after getting married, Henrik became Jane’s manager but she said he didn’t know how to play the “game”.
She continued: “He was brilliant, but he was very Danish and didn’t understand that it’s all a game, our business, and you have to play it.
“I was a club artist, a cruise ship singer, which was like, we don’t allow this in our industry. And nobody thought for one minute that I would go straight to number one with that album, nobody.
“Not even the record company. It was a shock to everybody. And then my tour sold out massively, which was, you know, another learning curve.
“And I was learning the business with Henrik (her husband and manager at the time) along the way. So it was like, hang on a minute. This is not tallying up [..] but it’s a game, and you have to play it.”
Following her split from Henrik in 2003, she rekindled her relationship with teenage sweetheart and The Searchers drummer Eddie Rothe.
They got engaged in 2008 but never married, with Eddie of in 2021.
Jane previously opened up about Eddie’s final weeks, telling the Daily Mail: “It wasn’t slow, because we didn’t know. He had no symptoms.
“As daft as it sounds, I’m thankful it was during Covid because I was there with him. Nobody else was.”
However, she added: “But that was the hardest thing. I had no nurses or doctors come in. I had to learn how to do it all myself.
“I had him at home as long as I could. Then I took him to the Wakefield Hospice, which is a beautiful place.”
At the time of his death, her best friend and Celebrity star, Sue Ravey, moved in with her into her Wakefield home as she .
She told OK! Magazine in 2021: “I do shed the occasional tear and especially at new year. That’s when it hits me.”
