Abdulazeez Adediran, a former Lagos State governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), widely known as Jandor, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he referred to as courageous economic reforms that have enhanced financial access at the local government level.
Adediran made these comments following a meeting with President Tinubu at his Lagos residence during the Christmas holiday.
Discussing the engagement, Jandor stated that the conversation with the president was both enlightening and constructive, particularly regarding the necessity for collaboration between the Federal Government and state authorities.
“I had the privilege of meeting with Mr. President during his Christmas break in Lagos, where we engaged in a productive discussion. He highlighted the significance of a shared vision and cooperation between the federal government and the states for effective governance,” he said.
Now a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adediran revealed that he briefed the president on the performance of local government administrations in Lagos State, particularly their accomplishments within their first 100 days in office.
He noted that several councils have initiated visible development projects using funds obtained from the federation account.
“Having attended some of the 100-day celebrations of our local governments, I informed Mr. President about the progress being made with the available resources,” he stated.
“Currently, local governments in Lagos are inaugurating roads, primary healthcare centers, customary courts, and other essential infrastructure within just 100 days of taking office,” he added.
Adediran praised President Tinubu for implementing economic policies based on accountability and fiscal discipline, emphasizing that these initiatives have empowered grassroots administrations to achieve tangible results.
“I expressed my gratitude for his bold economic decisions, which have facilitated easier access to funds for grassroots governments, enabling them to deliver development,” he remarked.
Jandor, who placed third in the 2023 Lagos governorship election, previously announced his intention to run for the position again in 2027.
He also expressed confidence that President Tinubu would secure a significant victory in the 2027 presidential election, attributing this to the expanding reach and consolidation of the president’s political influence across the nation.
