Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has shared the results of a meeting held in Kaduna between Northern governors and traditional rulers to discuss security issues.
In an interview on Sunday Politics, a program on Channels Television that was monitored by DAILY POST, the governor stated that each of the 19 states will contribute one billion naira monthly.
According to DAILY POST, the Northern States Governors’ Forum and the Northern Traditional Leaders Council convened this meeting in response to the growing security challenges facing the region.
During the meeting, Governor Sule outlined the resolutions made, saying: “In the meeting in Kaduna, we accomplished at least four significant objectives that we had not been able to achieve previously.
“Firstly, we decided that rather than continually relying on the federal government for assistance, we must take it upon ourselves to enhance security efforts beyond what we normally do at the state level.
“We must unite and take action. Thus, we resolved that each of the 19 states will contribute 1 billion naira every month for the next 12 months, amounting to a total of 19 billion naira each month.
“Until we achieve our goals, we plan to incorporate technology into our efforts, hire our own vigilantes, provide them with enhanced training, equipment, logistics, and everything necessary.”
