KEMI Badenoch plans to abolish inheritance tax if the Tories win the next general election.

The leader is hoping to announce the plan in her big party conference speech next month, a source told The Sun on Sunday.

A Tory source said: “Kemi’s team think Labour are weak on the economy and plan to go hard on tax ahead of the election.

“Last year she said the Tories will abolish stamp duty on homes.

“This year they are looking to see if they can scrap inheritance tax if they can make the sums add up. It’s all about inspiration.”

of 40 per cent has to be paid on everything above £325,000.

That threshold rises to £500,000 if a home is left to children or grandchildren.

The tax is hugely unpopular as it often means those who inherit a family home are forced to sell to cover the bill.

The Party conference, in Birmingham next month, is expected to be packed with policy announcements in case the PM calls an early election.

A Conservative spokesman said: “We have not decided our policy platform for the conference.

“Kemi has made no secret of her desire to cut taxes, singling out inheritance tax as one of those taxes she wants to cut in a speech last week.”
