Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has revealed that he is facing significant pressure from political figures to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mutfwang made this statement during an event over the weekend at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Jos.

The governor emphasized his commitment to remain with the PDP, asserting that only God and the voters who elected him can influence his political choices.

“It is true that they have been pressuring me,” he stated.

“However, I informed them that only two entities can authorize me to switch parties — one is the God of heaven, and the other is you, the people,” he added.

This announcement comes just weeks after APC leaders in Plateau attempted to prevent Mutfwang from joining their party.

During a recent stakeholders’ meeting in Jos, the APC leaders unanimously supported a motion aimed at blocking Mutfwang's defection to their party.

The motion was reportedly introduced by Festus Fuanter, the former Deputy National Secretary of the APC.

“We do not want anyone joining our party. You pursue your agenda, and we will pursue ours,” Fuanter stated at the meeting.

He further expressed that the party was confident in its strength as it approaches the 2027 general elections and does not require any outside support.

In response to these developments, Mutfwang remarked that those opposing his rumored defection are acting out of fear.
