I’m not interested in Tinubu’s appointment – Amaechi

Published on July 04, 2025 at 10:22 AM

Former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has stated that he joined the opposition not because President Bola Tinubu failed to offer him a political appointment.

Amaechi made this known on Thursday while featuring on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

“I never stole anything in politics. I don’t drive a Rolls-Royce. I’m not in opposition because Tinubu didn’t give me an appointment. I’m not interested in any appointments.

“If there’s anyone who says Amaechi deceived them, let them come forward. If there was corruption in my tenure, let them come forward. I’m waiting,”; he said.

The former Minister of Transport was among the top politicians who, on Wednesday in Abuja, unveiled the African Democratic Congress, ADC, as the political platform for the coalition against Tinubu’s administration.

It will be recalled that the opposition coalition, on Tuesday, adopted the ADC as its political party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
