A MUM has revealed how she decided to get creative when it came to making the most of the space in her family home.

Her kids weren’t able to have their own bedrooms so Becca decided to do a clever hack in the lounge which would solve the issue.

In order to utilise the space in the downstairs room, she added an Ikea Kallax unit to separate it out in two.

In one half, she kept her sofas and TV for her family to use, and in the other half, she put a double bed for herself.

She wrote on her @becca.babyy91 account: “Split my living room so that my children could have their own rooms.

“Still plenty of room in my living room for family time too!”

Becca shared how she had been sleeping in the lounge for the past six months, and was happy to do so if it meant her kids had their own room.

She insisted that the space was “cozy” and said: “I like it down here.”

Typically Ikea Kallax units cost £149 for the 5×5 option she got to use as a room divider – which is a lot less than adding a partition wall or having to move.

Many people rushed to praise her for sacrificing her room, with one fan commenting: “Best mummy ever.”

Another added: “this is what you call a good mother.”

And a third wrote: “It still looks super organised and cute!”

Parenting expert Liat Hughes Joshi previously said: “Often we lump our children together as ‘the kids’, but they are individuals and sometimes they need their own space.

“As children get older they need a space of their own, somewhere they can retreat to when they are tired, overwhelmed or just want a bit of time to themselves.”

While it is impossible to magic up a spare room, professional organiser Vicky Silverthorn says: “ are a brilliant idea if you have room, especially if kids are reaching an age where they need more privacy or if there is a bigger age gap.”

If you do not have space to divide a room, Liat says: “A pop-up tent or a bed tent is a great idea to give kids their own privacy in a bedroom.

“It provides a physical barrier with the rest of the house.”
