The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has just cast his vote at his polling location, Ofiyi Square, Polling Unit 002, Isuofia in Aguata Local Government Area.

Soludo voted precisely at 1:25 PM. Upon his arrival at the polling unit, he was promptly accredited and proceeded to cast his ballot.

Currently, over 400 voters are still waiting to vote at the center. The delay is due to the fact that only one BVAS machine has been provided for the location.

In a conversation with journalists, the governor expressed his confidence in achieving victory.

He mentioned that he has received reports of his opponents engaging in vote buying, but he remains assured of winning the election if the votes are counted fairly.

He stated: “The election has been relatively peaceful and is progressing smoothly, except for a few areas where we have received reports of challenges.

“We have experienced some glitches, such as in certain polling units in Olumbanasa, where the BVAS machines were not functioning properly. We have also received reports from Nnewi South Local Government Area, where an individual was distributing N15,000 in exchange for votes, possibly due to desperation to win in that locality.

“I heard about it and said, don't worry. Even if they distribute N100,000, let the people vote and let the votes be counted. We are quite convinced that based on the principle of one man, one vote, we will achieve a landslide victory; there is no doubt about that.”
