The Deputy Chief Whip of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Ted Elemeforo, has expressed his lack of confidence in President Bola Tinubu's administration, stating that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed to address Nigeria’s challenges.
During an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time program on Wednesday, Elemeforo explained that his choice to remain with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is rooted in conviction, emphasizing that the PDP is a more viable alternative for Nigeria.
This statement comes in light of Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State's recent shift to the ruling APC.
Nevertheless, Elemeforo asserted that despite the political difficulties facing Nigeria, he has greater faith in the PDP’s ability to revitalize the country compared to the ruling APC.
He stated, “I do not believe that the APC is a solution to Nigeria’s problems, and I lack faith in the Tinubu-led APC government. I am convinced that the PDP would provide a better alternative to address Nigeria's issues.”
The lawmaker criticized the APC for hypocrisy, recalling that the reasons the party gave for ousting former President Goodluck Jonathan are the same issues it now faces.
According to him, President Tinubu and other APC leaders who protested against the fuel subsidy during Jonathan’s administration owe the Nigerian people an apology for adopting the same policy they once denounced.
“In this country, there is always a double standard. Individuals like Tinubu, who protested against the oil subsidy, need to publicly apologize to President Goodluck Jonathan for implementing what they previously criticized,” Elemeforo remarked.
