THE deputy leader of the Green Party owns two buy-to-let properties despite his party’s vow to crack down on landlords.

It has emerged , 44, bought a former council house for £165,000 in 2022, and a second for £157,000 in 2025 through his company MA Holdings.

Both are in Gipton, Leeds, and are thought to be occupied by tenants.

Ali, who shouted “Allahu akbar” when elected a Leeds councillor in 2024, became co-deputy leader of the Greens in England and Wales a year ago.

In October, they passed their “Abolish landlord” policy.

It would use taxes to make it hard for landlords to make a profit.

In March, leader said tenants were seen as “cash cows”.

A spokesman said: “Councillor Ali has acted solely in the interests of vulnerable close family members.”

Ali, ADD who has previously been criticised over his views on Israel sparked outrage when he shouted “Allahu akbar” as he was elected as a Leeds councillor in May 2024.

He apologised for “any upset” caused, but was criticised again after social media posts about Hamas’s October 7 2023 attacks emerged.

He also insulted a Leeds-based rabbi for serving as a reservist with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in Gaza last year.

He got denounced for “inciting division”.
