Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to discuss key issues affecting the state.
According to a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the closed-door meeting focused on security, major infrastructure projects, and stronger cooperation between Kano State and the Federal Government.
The governor briefed President Tinubu on serious challenges facing Kano, especially the rising insecurity in some local government areas.
He spoke about the recent tragic killing of a housewife and her children and stressed the need for strong federal support to boost security efforts and protect innocent people.
Governor Yusuf also explained how the Kano State Neighbourhood Watch Corps is supporting security agencies and called for closer collaboration with federal security bodies.
On development, the governor shared his administration’s plans for major infrastructure projects.
“Governor Yusuf also discussed Kano’s development agenda, with special focus on mega infrastructure projects. He used the opportunity to thank the President about federal intervention on the Wujuwuju Road, describing it as critical step to unlocking economic growth and job creation,”
He further asked for the President’s support to speed up federal projects in Kano and ensure the state fully benefits from federal programmes and investments.
He said President Tinubu assured Governor Yusuf that the Federal Government is ready to work with Kano State to address insecurity and promote sustainable development.
