Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has dismissed an online report claiming that his mother died on Monday, January 19, 2026, describing it as false and misleading.

In a post on X, Ribadu said he received many calls and messages after the report spread online.

“I have been inundated with calls and messages from friends and associates following an inaccurate online publication claiming that my mother passed away on Monday, 19 January 2026,” he said.

Ribadu thanked those who reached out to sympathise with him but said it was necessary to correct the claim.

“While I sincerely appreciate everyone who reached out to commiserate with me, it is important to set the record straight. The publication is false and misleading,” he stated.

He explained that his mother died many years ago and could not have passed away on the date mentioned in the report.

“My mother of blessed memory passed away 28 years ago and therefore could not have died on Monday,” Ribadu said.

According to him, the woman who died on Monday was Hajja Mamma Sulaiman Ribadu, who was married to his late uncle.

“The person who passed on Monday is Hajja Mamma Sulaiman Ribadu, the wife of my late uncle,” he clarified.

Ribadu offered prayers for the deceased and expressed gratitude to those who supported the family during the period of mourning.

“May Allah SWT forgive her shortcomings, bless her soul, and grant her Aljannat Firdaus. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has stood by our family during this loss. May Allah SWT reward you all abundantly,” he added.
