However, he took to Instagram to reveal that when he recently requested his medication, he was informed that they could not assist him and that he would need to seek private care, which carries a monthly cost of £500.
In a video, the frustrated star stated: “What is the point of me working and paying taxes in this country, in 2025?”
“I’ve been on medication provided by the NHS for years. I’ve had a bit of a tumultuous journey, so sometimes I need to go back on it, depending on how I’m feeling.”
“I returned to them for this medication, and they told me that I now have to go private unless I start the entire process again, which would take two years,” he explained.
Tommy continued: “This is just another way for the system to cut funding because more people are being diagnosed with it. So now, if I go into a downward spiral, I can’t read or write and struggle with everyday tasks.”
The star and his partner share two children.
He explained that he chooses private services for his children's education and other medical concerns, stating: “I’ve contributed millions to the system.”
“I don’t even send my kids to regular school; I pay for their education, all my doctor appointments, dental visits, everything, right?”
“And they’ve told me, ‘No.’”
Tommy mentioned that he may need the medication to function, to which the doctors replied, “Sorry, I can’t help you.”
He further clarified that if he were to go private, it would cost £300 to consult a doctor once a month, in addition to a £200 prescription fee.
“So, the average person who can’t afford it has to suffer every single day?” he questioned.
Numerous fans and friends expressed their shared frustration and support in the comments section.
One commented: “It’s appalling, mate. I hope you find a resolution x.”
DJ Tom Zanetti simply remarked: “Disgusting,” while former Love Island star Tyla Carr shared that she is facing a similar situation.
Tommy stated that doctors recommended he go private or wait two years for a reassessment.
