Chelsea on Tuesday morning disclosed that their Under-21s head coach Filipe Coelho has left Stamford Bridge.

In a post via their official website, the Blues announced that Coelho left for French Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg. He will become their new assistant head coach.

The Premier League west London club also revealed that Calum McFarlane will step into the role of Under-21s head coach, replacing Coelho.

McFarlane recently joined Chelsea from Southampton and he will be supported by former Chelsea Academy players Andy Ross and James Simmonds.

Coelho, on his part, guided Chelsea’s young Blues to a third-place finish in Premier League 2 last season.

The 40-year-old joined Chelsea following a successful season as Under-23s head coach at Estoril.
