Sterling has been left out of Chelsea’s plans

According to BBC Sport , Leverkusen are among the clubs interested in the former England international.

Ten Hag, who was appointed as manager of the Bundesliga outfit in May, had previously tried to sign Sterling at Manchester United.

The Red Devils were interested in him when he was frozen out of the Blues squad at the start of last season, but a move never materialised.

Sterling spent seven years at Manchester United’s local rivals , but was open to the move.

Now the pair could finally work together in Germany.

Reports suggest Chelsea are willing to sanction an exit for £20million.

Juventus are another European club being linked with the 30-year-old.

Sterling has been left out of first team plans alongside Joao Felix, Axel Disasi, Ben Chilwell and - until his £25million switch to Bournemouth - Djordje Petrovic.

He currently has two years left on his £325,000-a-week deal.

Sterling made 28 appearances for Arsenal on his season-long loan last term.

He scored one goal and recorded five assists.
