Arsenal's manager, Mikel Arteta, has indicated that Viktor Gyokeres is uncertain for their Premier League match against Chelsea this weekend.

Gyokeres last featured for the Gunners at the beginning of November in a match against Burnley. The Swedish striker has now been sidelined for the last four games.

With Kai Havertz also recuperating from a knee injury that has kept him out since the season's opening weekend, Mikel Merino has been appointed to spearhead Arsenal’s attack.

During a press conference on Friday, when Arteta was questioned about whether the scan results for Gyokeres and Havertz had returned clear, he responded: “Not yet, but they are getting closer and closer. We are very optimistic about both of them, and we will see.”

There is a new concern regarding Leandro Trossard, who had to leave the field in the first half against Bayern Munich during the Champions League. Arteta remains hopeful that he can still contribute on Sunday.

He added: “There is another test today. We need to assess how he’s feeling. It doesn’t seem serious. There is a potential chance [he could be available for Chelsea].”
