TalkSPORT presenter, Adrian Durham, has named Newcastle United striker Nick Woltemade as the worst signing in the history of the Premier League.
Woltemade joined Newcastle from Bundesliga club Stuttgart for £69 million.
The Germany international was signed as a replacement for Alexander Isak, who left Newcastle for Liverpool.
The 24-year-old made a good start at Newcastle, scoring five goals in his first 10 appearances.
However, his form has dropped over recent months, with Woltemade scoring just once in 17 games this year.
Woltemade was even deployed further back in central midfield in recent matches for Newcastle.
“Nick Woltemade, I am going to say this that he is the worst signing in Premier League history. This is not anything against him, it is not personal – I hear he is a very good teammate,” Durham said as quoted by Metro.
“But £65-70 million for one of those, and we have got to delve deeper. I was in Newcastle the other night for the Qarabag game, the tie was done, so it was a chance for players to shine, and it was a night Newcastle had a free hit. Their expensive striker needs goals, and he starts in central midfield.”
Durham’s comments come after Newcastle legend Alan Shearer recently .
