The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has announced his intention to run for the governorship seat of Oyo State in 2027.
Adelabu, who is a candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated that he is pursuing the governorship position because “emi lokan,” which translates to “it’s my turn.”
In a widely circulated video, the Minister emphasized that his ambition is not motivated by personal or selfish interests.
Nonetheless, he expressed that his desire to enhance the lives of the people in the state is the driving force behind his aspiration to become governor.
Speaking in Yoruba, his native language, he remarked, “I have been on this political journey for quite some time. In politics, I have learned that one may not always receive what one deserves in a single attempt; both life and politics have taught me this lesson.
“I have fulfilled my obligations. I ran alongside Seyi Makinde in 2019 and again in 2023.
“Today, I declare: it is our turn; it is my turn in 2027, as God has revealed. Adelabu! Àwálòkàn! Penkelemesi Èmilòkàn.
“We will commence our door-to-door campaign with determination, and with God's grace and our collective efforts, victory is not only achievable, but it is certain.”
