A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has criticized the supporters of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for labeling their leader as the best among all candidates in the coalition.

During an interview on Channels Television, Momodu also expressed his disapproval of the Obidients for insisting that Obi must be the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election.

The publisher of Ovation Magazine remarked that it is disrespectful to other leaders within the coalition when Obidients refer to their leader as ‘the best’ among ADC leaders.

The former presidential aspirant was responding to remarks made by rights activist Aisha Yesufu and economist Prof. Pat Utomi, both of whom support Obi and have cautioned that their backing could be withdrawn if he is not awarded the ADC presidential ticket.

According to Yesufu, Obi is the finest among the political figures in the ADC and should not be relegated to a secondary role in the coalition, a sentiment previously echoed by Utomi.

In response, Momodu stated that the narrative coming from certain factions of the Obidient movement was divisive and dismissive of other notable figures within the party.

“When I spoke about people being unruly, I came across comments where someone was quoted as saying, ‘Why should the best of us always be playing second fiddle to the worst of us?’”

“What criteria determine who is the worst among us?” the publisher of Ovation Magazine inquired.
